"All of us have been asked what we do at some point. We’ve all had these awkward conversations trying to accurately and simply explain GIS and our role in it.
I think one of my more memorable conversations I had about this was at a family gathering about 5 years ago. Before even having finished my sentence, the grandfathers in the room lit up and started shouting out joyfully just how much they love reading trail maps and how good it is knowing all the world’s capitals. I think we can all agree that their assumptions about what I do were adorable, yet fabulously wrong."
